RCI Update
Ten members attended the RCI AGM and General Meeting (Committee Meeting) on Monday July 31. Six new members were welcomed. The new office holders and committee members elected are: President: Alan Davies; Vice-President: Lydia Kindred; Treasurer: Catherine Knight; Secretary: Garth Kindred; Ordinary Members: Zara Elwood; Eric Kinchin; Joan Davies; Andrew Shannon.
Much of the General Meeting was taken up with reports from the community groups and projects. It was very heartening to hear of the level of constructive voluntary activity that was going on in the Rosebank community. The groups reporting included the Village Journal; Fox Road Landcare; Rosebank Landcare; the Yankee Creek Restoration and Platypus Project; the Rosebank Recreation Reserve; the Repentance Creek and Rosebank Halls; the Broadband Group; the Rosebank Roads Improvement Committee; the Koala Enclosure; the Rosebank (Village) Rural Fire Service. Reports of most of these activities can be found elsewhere in this edition of the VJ.
We should however single out the work of Julie Woods who tabled and spoke to the final report of the Yankee Creek Restoration and Platypus Project supported by the Envirofund for more than $30,000. The project was auspiced by RCI, managed by Julie, involved ten contiguous properties through which Yankee Creek and its tributaries flow. All of the stated goals were achieved and the grant was fully expended. The meeting passed a vote of appreciation to Julie for all of her work. Other successfully completed projects were the Koala Enclosure, negotiations with the Council on the 10 priorities arising from the Roads Group and the enablement of the Rosebank Exchange for ADSL.
Up coming community events include: Little Scrub Day—Sept 23 at RR Reserve; Broadband Gathering—potentially Sunday August 20 at Repentance Creek Hall between 12-4pm; ‘Forum’ night—Two DVDs ‘Two Visions’ and ‘On the Brink’ will be screened on Saturday September 2 at the Rosebank Hall. Again see relevant articles in this Journal for more detail.
Finally the meeting passed the following two motions concerning third party liability insurance.
- ‘By means of membership or otherwise that Fox Road and Rosebank Landcare groups cover the cost of the insurance through the course of the year.
- ‘To be covered by the insurance, Landcare members must be financial members of RCI.’
Next Meeting: August 28, 7pm at Rosebank Hall. If you would like a copy of the minutes of either the AGM or the General Meeting please either ring me on 66882104 or email me on atdavies@bipond.com.
