Rosebank Community Inc.
President’s report
As recorded in the last VJ, at the last RCI meeting we discussed insurance - whether or not to take out public liability insurance, which would cost in the order of $1,000. The meeting decided to consult the community through the VJ and consider the matter at the May meeting. As a result of the VJ report it became apparent that we had to act before that time as a renewal notice came to light which falls due on May 1. It was a business liability cover for $10 million with an annual premium of $1,007.35 for the year. It covers voluntary workers. Its 'location of risk' is listed as Rosebank Road.
Fox Road Landcare indicated that it was covered by the policy and needed the continuing coverage for their 'work for the dole' workers under the direction of the landcare group.
I convened a special meeting of the RCI on April 17 to consider the matter. Notice was given via email to members and Rosebank residents for whom I have email addresses and who were happy for me to contact them through this medium.
The meeting decided it needed further research to inform the May meeting about the choices facing the RCI. In the interim it would renew the policy and pay a month’s premium to cover Fox Rd Landcare until a decision was made. Since then we have received a donation of $100 dollars by a concerned and generous resident to be used towards insurance if necessary. The matter will be discussed at the next meeting of RCI, which is at 7 pm at the Rosebank Hall on Monday May 8.
