The ARC is making circles

The Autonomous Regions Coalition (ARC) had a good turn up in May for our Mullumbimby gathering. I gave a presentation on a new political system of 'community governance' (as outlined in last VJ) and Charles Mollison presented his Regional Government Model and a case for rewriting the Australian Constitution, firstly changing it to allow voters to initiate referenda.

Charles is a retired army colonel and author, and heads the Foundation for National Renewal (see national-renewal.org.au). There were some good questions fielded and lively discussion ensued.

The ARC is forming circles all round the region. We hope to create regular 'ARC at Market' gatherings, forming a circle on the oval at The Channon and other markets to discuss the best ways to realise self-sufficiency and sustainability, and a smarter system of government because the consensus is that the current one is just plain dumb.

The next step is to formally establish the association and to this end we are meeting in Mullumbimby's Pioneer Hall at 7pm on Monday June 12 (and we'll toast the Queen on her 80th Birthday). We'd love to have you on board. If you need a ride down give us a call on 66882220 and you can now email direct to arc@nrg.com.au.
