Rosebank Recreation Reserve News

Rosebank Landcare members revisited the Recreation Reserve on the morning of Saturday March 20th.

The prime target was the Madeira vine, growing up some camphors on the creek edge, and this was painstakingly approached by Joan and George by scraping and painting the vine and not attempting to cut it down. In this way, hopefully, the tuber die on the vine and do not fall and take root.

Cath, Benny and Kalani did a lot of hand weeding. We were happy to receive Joel, Melinda and Matt as late arrivals - their first time at the reserve. They joined in with the hand weeding operation. George fired up the chainsaw and lopped off some camphor limbs. I did a bit of spot spraying here and there, especially targeting the ragweed along the front roadside. Alan did the mowing on both sides of the creek. The grass on the sunny side was higher than his machine in places.

Roy Gordon, Widjabul representative for the Reconnecting to Country project (RtC), his partner Christine and their children also visited the reserve around knock off time and we were able to show him around, as the first of several sites where works are taking place as part of the RtC project this year. The plans for the soon to be constructed compost toilet will be put up in April at the Rosebank shop for all to see and comment on. Construction is due to start very soon once the site is fully prepared.

The reserve is looking great but it does need these monthly maintenance days so please remember the third Saturday of the month, and only from 8 till 10 am. Next one April 17th.
