Rosebank Reserve

“Rosebank Landcare taking a well earned rest after the last working bee” Photo G. Kindred

Next working bee - 19 June, 8 to 10am

We had a great turn-out at our most recent working bee, a dozen adults and children in all. George displayed some fine chain-sawing abilities removing the final obstruction at our compost toilet site … a huge and long ago poisoned camphor laurel tree with many overhanging dead limbs. We also spent some time clearing away the undergrowth from the site. We were all pretty positive and excited about getting the loo underway and were looking forward to the imminent construction.

At our next regular working bee, the third Saturday morning in June, we will be making a concerted effort to get on top of the patch of Madeira Vine. Thankfully the reserve has only one small patch of this destructive and difficult to control weed. This will be a good opportunity for fellow landcarers to learn about how to manage this weed. Come along and pick up a few tips or share your knowledge.

We shall also be burning off our bonfire pile on the open side of the reserve (weather permitting). I shall be bringing the marshmallows and I am sure my son will be willing to share!

If you are interested in seeing the reserve , sharing our ideas for the future, learning about Madeira Vine control or how a compost toilet works, please join us on the 19 June. Working is non-compulsory, you might just like to have a look around and toast a marshmallow on the bonfire.

See you at the reserve, just 100 metres down Armstrong Road, opposite Rosebank School.
